SOS Devotional Day 22: Real Talk; Rebirth is Necessary!💜💜💜💜

"Jesus answered, ‘I am telling you the truth: no one can see the Kingdom of God without being born again.’” – John 3:3 (GNT)

Sisters, this verse reminds us of the profound truth that entering God’s Kingdom requires more than just existing; it demands a spiritual rebirth. This transformation is not something we can achieve through human effort or good deeds. It is a divine act of grace, a moment of surrender when we lay down our old selves and allow God to make us new.

In today’s devotional, we become witnesses to a private, nighttime conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus—a prominent Pharisee, an esteemed teacher, and a member of the Jewish ruling council. Jesus declares, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

Nicodemus, confused, asks, “How can someone be born when they are old? Surely, they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” 🤔

Jesus responds, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’” (John 3:3–7).

Why should Nicodemus not be surprised? Because the flesh, which remains unchanged from birth, cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. Therefore, a person must be given a new nature—a spiritual rebirth. Nicodemus struggled to grasp this, as many of the religious leaders in his time believed they already possessed the transformation promised in the New Covenant (So they thought🤔). Jesus challenges him to realize that spiritual rebirth is essential and cannot be assumed😳

Sisters, Jesus’ words emphasize the mystery and necessity of being born again. This rebirth is not merely a concept, but a spiritual reality made possible by the Holy Spirit. It is a divine gift that ushers us into a personal relationship with God, transforming us from the inside out. Like the wind, we cannot see the Spirit’s work, but its effects are undeniable (John 3:8). 👏👏

Let us not follow the example of Nicodemus, who appeared spiritually inclined on the outside but lacked what was essential to enter God’s Kingdom ("You must be born again"). Simply attending church (out of tradition) or knowing biblical truths is not the same as fully surrendering to Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Outwardly, we may seem to have (good religion😁) aligned with the Kingdom, but inwardly, we lack the transformation of being born again.

Take a moment to reflect: “Have I truly been born again? It's a call to examine our hearts: Are we just going through the motions, or have we truly surrendered every part of our lives to Him? It’s not about appearances or tradition; it’s about a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus as both Savior and Lord.

Prayer of Rebirth:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of new life through Jesus. I know I can’t enter Your Kingdom by my own efforts but only by Your grace. Help me to fully surrender and trust Your Spirit to lead me. Mold me into the person You’ve called me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer of Salvation:

Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner in need of You. I believe You died on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me. Today, I turn from my sins and open my heart to You. I receive You as my Savior—come into my life and save me. Thank You for Your sacrifice. Amen.

Sisterly Encouragement:

Sisters, rejoice in the gift of being born again! The Spirit of God is at work in you, shaping you into His image and guiding you daily. Walk confidently as a daughter of the King, renewed and empowered by His Spirit.
