The Blessing of Bold Obedience💜💜💜💜
"So, God was good to the midwives, and the Israelites continued to multiply, growing more and more powerful. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own." Exodus 1:20-21 (NLT)
In Exodus 1, Pharaoh, fearing the rapid growth of the Israelites, ordered the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, to kill all newborn Hebrew boys. However, these women feared God more than they feared Pharaoh. For them, the choice was clear—they could obey an earthly king or remain faithful to the King of Kings. They chose obedience to God, refusing to take innocent lives.
When we fear God more than we fear people, our path becomes clear. Obedience to God is the foundation for His favor. When we trust Him completely, He moves on our behalf. Scripture tells us that God rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). To seek means to pursue, search for, or strive after something or someone. The midwives sought to do what was right in God’s eyes, and their actions positioned them to receive His blessings. Not only did they protect the children of Israel, but God also gave them the very thing they had helped preserve—families of their own.
This passage reminds us that when we stand for righteousness, God stands for us. Don't miss this. Notice that God sees the midwives, boldness and rewards. The midwives risked their lives, yet their reverence for God brought them His favor and protection. In a world that often pressures us to compromise our faith, their example teaches us to trust in God's justice and provision. When we recognize that He is in control, everything shifts.
Are you facing a situation where doing the right thing feels risky? Remember, obedience to God is never in vain. He sees every act of faithfulness and rewards ("good") to those who honor Him. Stand firm, knowing that His favor is greater than any challenge before you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to stand firm in faith, even when obedience feels difficult. Give me the courage to honor You above all else, trusting that You are my protector and provider. Let my actions reflect my deep reverence for You. I declare today that the battle belongs to You, and that truth changes everything. As I seek You and walk in obedience, I trust that Your favor will follow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
